The T-Wing was developed some time around the Battle of Hoth. Somehow, the Rebels managed to obtain a few of these starfighters during their experimental stage. These experimental T-Wings were encountered by the Empire when an Imperial strike force led by TIE Defenders moved to seize a Rebel platform that was producing the Mag Pulse Torpedo. Its design makes the T-Wing an ideal interceptor. With an engine on each of its wingtips the T-Wing is capable of outrunning the venerable TIE Fighter. These inexpensive starfighters which are small, fast and manoeuvrable were later incorporated into planetary or system defence fleets. Also due to their cost they were a favourite of smugglers and pirates. They are good multi-role starfighters. The T-Wing's only real advantage lays in its speed. |
