The
Mark I Bulk Transport is a two deck craft that is generally considered
to be pirate bait. It ceased production several years before the Battle
of Yavin in favour of larger transports, but still can be found in the
more civilized sectors of the Galaxy. This very common long-range bulk
transport commands a high resale price. The top deck contains the bridge,
various control stations, living areas, supply room, galley and dinning
area, and escape pod access. Meanwhile, the lower deck maintains the cargo
bay; with the cargo bay door located in the ship's nose. Independent security
forces such as The Shield make use of this craft as a mobile base of operations.
Ships such as the Cygnante have been reinforced to be able to
survive the rigours of combat and featured five transponder codes.
