The Gas Skimmer GS-III is effectively a flying storage tank fitted with air scoops. A series of complex filter and sifter systems collect and move desired gases into their appropriate storage tanks. They are designed to withstand the atmospheric storms and enormous pressures encountered in gas giants. Ships such as the Garman-class Gas Miner transport and deploy these craft in the upper atmosphere of a world, where they then descend to areas with the highest gas concentrations, and begin mining operations. Lant Mining Corporation employs this vessel as part of its operations. This design was on the market at least a few weeks after the Battle of Yavin. |
