For some time the Rebel Alliance had been trying to convince the Sullustans to join. With the recent capture of a highly skilled Sullustan Technical Staff by Imperial Stormtroopers, without the knowledge of the Sullustans, the Rebels saw this as their chance to convince the Sullustans to join the Rebellion. The Rebels believed this was part of Operation Strike Fear and believed it was possible that the full scale invasion of Sullust was in the works by the Empire. The Sullustans were being transported to a pair of waiting Imperial Nebulon-B Frigates, by means of a convoy of Stormtrooper Transports. The Rebels decided only to send a lone Y-Wing, in fear that if too many fighters were sent, that Imperial Forces would terminate the Sullustan prisoners. Farlander dropped out of hyperspace behind the convoy. The Nebulon-B Frigates were about 12.5 km away and launched two TIE Fighters nearly 30 seconds after he arrived.

Farlander identified each of the transports to identify their cargo. After he completed his inspection run on the transports he was able to find which ones where carrying the prisoners. Farlander targeted the second transport carrying the prisoners and fired a proton torpedo and switched to ion cannons to disable the transport, he repeated this with the first transport carrying the prisoners. Farlander did his best to disable the transports close to each other. Rebel transports arrived when the Imperial transports carrying the prisoners were disabled. Farlander stayed close to the transports eliminating the threats to them. Farlander used proton torpedoes to destroy the flight leaders of the TIEs at a distance and then he would close in on the wingmen with his laser cannons. The Rebel transports docked with the Imperial ones and transferred the prisoners over, once the transfer was complete they hypered out of the area, and with that Farlander soon followed.
