The Garman-class Gas Miner does not mine atmospheric gas, rather it fulfills the role as a close-orbit storage and support station. Mining operations are carried out via 20 atmospheric skimmers that are transported aboard the Garman Gas Miner. After collecting the desired gasses, the skimmers return to fill the massive, pressurized holds of the bulky ship. Miners who work these operations live onboard. Once its holds are full, the ship immediately heads towards a refinery to offload its precious cargo. Lant Mining Corporation employs this vessel as part of its operations. This design was on the market at least a few weeks after the Battle of Yavin.
