The Era of Zaarin-Traitors Revealed

Just an hour ago Grand Admiral Zaarin conducted a treacherous attack against our Emperor in a foolish attempt to seize control of the Empire. We have already received reports from all over the Empire that forces loyal to Zaarin have or are in the process of conducting attacks against Imperial assets. Captain, your ship is being committed to reinforce Facility 74-A2; an Xg-1 Assault Gunboat factory, which is currently under attack. We are aware that the Nebulon-B Talos is still conducting drydock repairs, but your ship along with other units are the only ones which can respond in time. Your ship, along with a pair of Modified Guardian-class Light Cruisers are to drive off the traitor forces, insure that 74-A2 is not destroyed, and minimize the number of stolen Xg-1s leaving the area. Included in your task force's compliment: 2 TIE Fighter and 1 TIE Bomber squadrons and 2 Katarn-class Boarding Shuttles (along with associated troops) [onboard the Talos]. The traitor forces include: the Escort Carrier Executioner, 1 Assassin-class Modified Corvette, 2 CR90 Corellian Corvettes and 4 Cargo Ferries. Their starfighter forces include: 1 TIE Fighter (has shields 20 SBD) and 1 Assault Gunboat squadrons. Should the traitor forces make it to Grid E6 they will have escaped our grasp.

Note that no reinforcements are available. The Talos currently only has 50% shields (since the grid upgrades are not finished yet), and for the forward weapons only 2 turbolasers and 2 laser cannons are operational (rest are undergoing re-calibration) [port, starboard and aft weapons are fully operational]. The TIE Fighters cannot be modified to carry ordnance. However, the TIE Bombers may be armed with either 8 Concussion Missiles or 6 Proton Torpedoes, or a mix of both. Reload in battle will not be possible. Enemy TIE Fighters have no warheads, but the Assault Gunboats have an average of 5 Concussion Missiles.

Galactic Empire Data Bank's Answer

The Talos would immediately head to attack the Escort Carrier Executioner. Meanwhile, T/F Gamma, escorting Beta-1 [6 T/Bs with proton torpedoes] and Beta-2 [6 T/Bs with concussion missiles] would attack Snake 2 and 5, while being supported by the Demon, Devil’s Tongue and T/F Delta. Demon and Devil’s Tongue would first attack Zaarin’s CRVs; Beta-1 would then unleash a barrage of torpedoes to quickly finish them off. From this point this combined force would move to support the Talos. Because of this strategy, Backhanded, Z-Alpha and Z-Tau would be prevented from supporting the CRVs as the Executioner is the greater asset to protect. Cargo Ferries Messan 1 and 2 would be allowed to leave as it will not be possible to stop them and the Escort Carrier.

Upon arriving to support the Talos (which would have taken position behind the Executioner), Beta-1 would quickly finish off the Backhanded and would use all remaining torpedoes to destroy the Executioner’s shields via pin-point targeting of the shield generators. Once the shields drop, the Talos, supported by Beta-1 would destroy the Escort Carrier’s engines to ensure it cannot escape. During this, T/F Delta would harass Z-Alpha, while T/F Gamma would harass Z-Tau with the Demon and Devil’s Tongue, and Beta-2 concentrating their efforts on Z-Tau. The MGLCs would assist in destroying the Executioner’s aft weapons and engines as they too would be positioned aft of the carrier; at the same time they battle Z-Tau. Once Z-Tau is destroyed, all forces would move to finish off Z-Alpha (if Z-Tau is destroyed and the Executioner is disabled, accepting offers of surrender would be transmitted to Z-Alpha as they know they have no hope of escape; if accepted Z-Alpha would be ordered to dock with the MGLCs to surrender).

By this time Messan 3 and 4 are most likely reaching their escape routes; both MGLCs and all remaining TIEs would stop them via destroying their engines (and would be in the position to do so because of the efforts against the Executioner). However, the possibility also exists that Messan 3 and 4 could escape as well. Nonetheless, even if all of Messan group escape, these ships carry only a small number of Xg-1s when compared to the Escort Carrier Executioner, which is the primary target of this mission.
