Operation Repulse-Last Stand

A refusal to perish is the best term to describe the remains of the Rebel Battle Line. But we finally have them trapped. Your command ship the ISDII Obliterator is back in service. Your orders are simple, you are to destroy the remnants of the Rebel Battle Line. The Interdictor Cruiser Agitator will accompany your star destroyer. Your starfighter complement includes 4 TIE Fighter, 2 TIE Interceptor and 2 TIE Bomber Squadrons. The Rebels' force consists of the MC80 Mon Alcar, Nebulon-B Frigate Typhoon, 2 CR90 Corellian Corvettes and 2 Modified Corellian Action VI Transports [armed with 4 turreted turbolasers and 1 fighter squadron. Speed 6 Space Units]. The Rebel fighter forces includes 3 X-Wing, 2 A-Wing and 2 B-Wing Squadrons.
Note that there are no reinforcements available. The TIE Fighters and TIE Interceptors are carrying no warheads. Your TIE Bomber squadrons can be loaded either with 8 Concussion Missiles or 6 Proton Torpedoes per bomber (Individual squadrons must have uniform ordnance, no mixing = IE T/B Squadron Alpha has all torpedoes and T/B Squadron Beta has all missiles). The ISDII is only carrying 6 Stormtrooper Transports [with their accompanying troops]. The Interdictor is carrying no support craft. Each of the X-Wings and B-Wings are loaded with 6 Proton Torpedoes, while the A-Wings are loaded with 6 Concussion Missiles each.

Correct Response Number 1
First TIE/f squadrons Alpha, Beta, and Delta will attack X-wing squadrons Red, Blue, and Green making full use of their superior maneuverability in order to keep the X-wings busy.

TIE/i squadrons Zeta and Theta will start an attack run against the B-wings. However, the TIE Bomber squadrons (having been armed with 8 concussion missiles each) will fire up to 2 missiles each at the B-wings on the same trajectory as the TIE Interceptors so that the Interceptors will camouflage the oncoming missiles. At the last minute the Interceptors will brake off their attack on the B-wings and instead attack their A-wing escorts, allowing the missiles to strike their targets. Any surviving B-wings will be mopped up by the Interceptors.

The six stoormtrooper transports will launch from the ISDII Obliterator, split into two groups of 3, and be escorted by TIE/f Gamma to CRV Yavin's Flame 4 and CRV Yavin's Flame 5 which they will board and capture. TIE/f Gamma will then attack targets of opportunity with emphasis on supporting the TIE/f and TIE/i squadrons.

This will leave only M/CATVI Companion1 and M/CATVI Companion 2 for the INT Agitator to face. The INT Agitator should be able to easily take on these 2 slow and weakly shielded vessels.

The ISDII Obliterator will engage the MC80 Mon Alcar. These two will be evenly matched (with a slight advantage to the ISDII Obliterator due to its superior weaponry) but I believe that the ISDII Obliterator will win.

The TIE Bomber squadrons, after firing their volley at the B-wings, will start making attack runs on the Neb-B Typhoon, concentrating on the slender central spar, in order to prevent the Neb-B Typhoon from aiding the MC80 Mon Alcar against the ISDII Obliterator.

At this time any ships not otherwise engaged, including the hopefully at this time captured CRV Yavin's Flame 4 and CRV Yavin's Flame 5, should attack the MC80 Mon Alcar in an attempt to increase the odds of the ISDII Obliterator's victory.

Correct Response Number 2
Objectives: Fire up Gravity Well Projectors & shoot anyone who is not us.
Threats: The main threat is that the Interdictor will be destroyed, allowing escape. It is not clear if the Action VI transports still carry their fighter load, so I will assume (worst case) that they do.

Capital ship orders:

INT Agitator will hide in shadow of ISD II Obliterator and power up the gravity well to prevent rebel escape. All the Agitators firepower will be dedicated to its own defence (anti torpedo & anti B-Wing flack fire mostly, but the CRVs Yavin’s Flame 4 & 5 may maneuver to peek over the lip of the Obliterator...).

ISD II Obliterator will maneuver to tractor both Action VIs as they maneuver to get a shot at the Agitator or to deploy additional fighters, pulling one to each side and shooting each of them with the heavy and light turbolasers on that side that can bear. Once this is done, the tractors will hold the CM80 Mon Alcar still for the forward firing heavy TLs that should engage it immediately it comes into range. The smaller turbolasers will assist in the attack on the Action VIs and any fighters launched from them, and only then engage the CRVs if they enter range, or if they cannot bear on those, engage targets of opportunity (like the Typhoon). When one of the capital ships loose shields, ion cannons will concentrate against it, and the turbolasers will shift to the other target.

The Obliterator should maneuver to keep the Nebulon-B Typhoon occluded from the Agitator while tractoring the CM80 to do the same, as the ISD II can easily weather their combined firepower. Once the Mon Aclar is destroyed, disabled or surrenders, the tractors and heavy turbolasers switch to attacking the Typhoon.

This should remove all capital ships from the enemy’s order of battle without friendly capital ship losses.

Starfighter orders: (all T/B are armed with 8 concussion missiles for this mission)

T/F Alpha, Beta & Delta, and the first flight of Gamma (four T/F), will engage the three squadrons of X-Ws, with orders to ensure that the T/I can disengage without any X-W on their tail.

T/I Zeta & Theta will sweep into the flank of the X-Ws as the T/F reach firing range, shooting to maximize confusion and loss of unit cohesion among the X-Ws, thus helping the T/F to close the range with minimal losses. They will then disengage before reaching dog-fighting range to pass the melee and engage the A-Ws: T/I Zeta on A-W Gold, T/I Theta on A-W Silver. They are to play for time against the A-Ws if they become outnumbered, as T/F reinforcements will be forthcoming as other operations are concluded or dwindle.

The remaining units of T/F Gamma (second & third flight) will accompany T/B Kappa, in what will look like an escorted second wave on the X-W, giving the T/I time to challenge and close to engage the A-Ws.

The last squadron, designated T/B Lambda, will launch and split in flights: one flight of four T/B will engage the Action IV Transports, then join up with the rest of the squadron as their primary targets are destroyed, the other two flights will fly to engage B-W Gray, firing a pair of missiles into any X-W of opportunity as the maneuver around the melee of X-W and T/F.

As the two flights of T/B Lambda skirt the melee, the second flight of T/F Gamma is ordered to speed up and join them; they are to attack B-W Gray with two T/B attacking each of the leading 4 B-Ws with missiles from different angles, to ensure those B-Wings destruction in the first attack run. The T/F are to add harassment fire to add to the confusion of the B-Ws, but to concentrate on getting behind the trailing 8 B-Ws of B-W Gray, to prevent any organized counter-attack by the B-Ws against the attacking T/B.

As the A-Ws are about to be engaged, the third Flight of T/F Gamma will, along with T/B Kappa, turn to engage B-W White under similar tactics (with 12 T/B they will be able to initially engage the leading 6 B-Ws, leading to a faster conclusion of this part of the battle, thus freeing them up to assist the T/I sooner).

After the X-Ws are reduced by half, half of the supernumerary T/F will disengage and start to assist the T/I in dealing with the A-Ws. As T/Bs are freed up from dealing with the B-Ws (T/B Kappa early on most likely), they will enter the melee with the X-W, freeing up half their number of T/F, and their escort flight of four T/F, to go after the A-Ws in support of T/I Zeta & Theta.

This should remove all enemy starfighters with moderate T/I losses, and only limited other fighter losses.

The stormtrooper transports, apparently carrying no torpedoes, will only be deployed to capture surrendering ships, and only after hostilities have seized, as they would be too vulnerable to A-W or X-W attack.

Galactic Empire Data Bank's Answer

First and foremost, the Interdictor Agitator would activate its gravity well projectors to ensure the Rebels cannot escape. Have both TIE Bomber squadrons armed with concussion missiles. TIE Bombers Kappa would move to attack the B-Wings with their concussion missiles, while being escorted by TIE Interceptors Theta and Zeta. The other TIE Bomber squadron, which shall be designated Iota would also attack the B-Wings with concussion missiles while being escorted by all the TIE Fighters. The TIE Fighters and TIE Interceptors would work in tandem, even though the TIE Fighters would concentrate their fire on the X-Wings, and while the TIE Interceptors concentrated their efforts on the A-Wings. Once the B-Wings have been destroyed, the TIE Bombers would concentrate their concussion missile attacks against the X-Wings.

Meanwhile, the ISDII Obliterator would deploy its six Stormtrooper Transports. These transports would stay near the Interdictor Agitator. Threatening the Imperial starfighters, even though it is supporting the MC80 Mon Alcar is the Nebulon-B Frigate Typhoon. With this in mind, the ISDII would head out to engage and disable its primary target the Nebulon-B Frigate. Once that has been accomplished the ISDII would concentrate all of its efforts against the MC80. During this action, the Interdictor would stay put to allow the Modified Action VIs and the corvettes come to it.

Using their proton torpedoes the Stormtrooper Transports would knock out the Modified Action VIs and corvettes' shields, while operating under the fire support of the Interdictor. Once the Interdictor's attackers' shields are down the Stormtrooper Transports would move to disable those vessels, while using the Interdictor to divert weapons fire away from them. As soon as the X-Wings have been destroyed, the all of the TIE Fighters would gang up to help finish off the A-Wings. It would only be a matter of time till the ISD Obliterator destroyed the MC80 Mon Alcar.
