Operation Repulse-One Last Chance

Imperial Intelligence has learned the location of a secret Rebel base, which they believe have been converted to become the sector headquarters for local Rebel units. Apparently, the Battle Line was intended to cause a wave of destruction and sow confusion within the ranks of the Empire to allow the existence of this Rebel facility to remain hidden. Your command ship the VSDII Iron Hand and its accompanying forces will move to capture this Rebel facility. Your force includes the Dreadnaught Iron Maiden, Carrack Cruisers Cyclops and Goliath, and the Interdictor Cruiser Agitator. Your starfighter forces include 3 TIE Interceptor, 1 TIE Fighter and 1 TIE Bomber Squadrons. In an addition to that there are 10 TIE Starfighters. The Rebel base maintains three squadrons of starfighters and 40 Turreted Turbolasers, 12 Turreted Ion Cannons, 4 Concussion Missile Launchers and 4 Proton Torpedo Launchers. Rebel starfighter forces consist of 3 X-Wing, 3 Y-Wing, 3 A-Wing and 1 B-Wing Squadrons.
Note that the Strike Cruiser Silent Stalker is available for reinforcements. It carries 2 TIE Fighter and 1 TIE Interceptor Squadrons. In addition to the Silent Stalker, a squadron of Assault Gunboats from the local system patrol will come to assist. The Assault Gunboats are fully equipped with Concussion Missiles. The Carrack Cruisers are equipped with Ion Cannons. The TIE Fighters and TIE Interceptors carry no warheads. The TIE Bombers are equipped with 6 Proton Torpedoes each. The VSDII and the Interdictor are the only vessels equipped with boarding craft. Between them they hold 4 ATRs [fully loaded with torpedoes] and their accompanying Stormtroopers. The X-Wings, Y-Wings and B-Wings are equipped with 6 Proton Torpedoes each, while the A-Wings are equipped with 6 Concussion Missiles each. The shields and hull of the Rebel base is equivalent to a Victory-class Star Destroyer.

Correct Response Number 1
Pre-script: I assume that all ships have a range of ”the grid they are in only”. If not please provide info (on the board or e-mail or whatever). It would be nice to know what the exact format for ranges etc. are.

Primary Objective: take the rebel base, without destroying it.
Secondary Objective: take out the rebel defences while limiting own losses.

I will concentrate on defeating the mobile defenders first, as the immobile ones aren’t going anywhere and can be avoided by staying away from them. As no rebel reinforcements are mentioned I expect not to be overly pressed for time.

Initial orders:

T/I Alpha & Beta are ordered to sweep behind the Iron Hand and turn to attack each others opponents, their goal is to keep the A-Ws engaged, and to stay alive until reinforced. They are advised to remain under cover of friendly guns.
Cyclops & Goliath are ordered to close in on the Iron Hand to provide support for the immobile ship, these 3 ships are to fire broadside flak at the A-W.
T/F Delta is to engage Y-W Gold. T/I Gamma is to use the Agitator & Iron Maiden for fire cover, while rebels Green & Red close to laser range, then to engage form this cover using targeting data fed to them from those ships. The Agitator & Iron Maiden are ordered to concentrate flak on the units attacking T/I Gamma.
T/SF Zeta are to engage X-Ws Yellow & Orange in an effort to keep them occupied while concentration on staying alive and T/B Kappa are ordered to move to engage B-W Silver, firing a torpedo pair, at a Y-W of Gray squadron of opportunity, on the way in.

Both supporting assets are ordered to hyper in. The Assault Gunboats are to join the attack on X-Ws Yellow & Orange, to fully suppress the fighter escort, and give T/B Kappa a free run at the Y-Ws Gray & B-Ws Silver.
The Silent Stalker is to proceed to B5, firing at mines as it strikes through the field surrounding it, there to release its compliment of fighters: the T/I squadron to engage the A-Ws, and one squadron of T/F to assist T/SF Zeta and the Gunboats, the other T/F squadron to engage X-W Red. Silent Stalker is then to rally on the Iron Hand.

As the Y-W & B-W reach torpedo range of the Iron Hand, it and the Carracks are to switch fire onto this threat.
If the Iron Hand is in range of the rebel base or mine weapons, the Carracks are to tow it to E3.
Agitator powers up the gravity wells to prevent escape of the starfighters.
Anti-starfighter operations proceed until the rebel fighter force is defeated, 3 ATRs are launched at the end of this to capture any surrendered fighters.

After eliminating the mobile defences, the unshielded fighters stay beyond the range of enemy mines, while the surviving Gunboats and the 3 ATRs recharge shields, then engage the mines, with orders to pull back to recharge shields when necessary.

The capital ships mass in formation in D3, and proceed in against the rebel base, blasting any remaining mines then shifting fire to the rebel base when it comes into range. As the base shields fall below 5%, only ion weapons fire at the rebel base, all lasers & turbolasers are ordered to engage any leftover mines in range.

The remaining mines are now swept by the shielded units of the task force, before the ATR held in reserve is launched and send in to capture the base, accompanied by any of the other 3 that survived.
The fleet starts recovering fighters, and take up defensive positions over the base, while the remaining Gunboats cautiously sweep the mines left in grid A6.

Galactic Empire Data Bank's Answer

Immediately call for reinforcements. Imperial fighter squadrons would engage the Rebel squadrons that are targeting them. Zeta Squadron would move to support Beta Squadron against the Rebel Saber and Axe Squadrons. Alpha and Beta Squadrons would join forces to help concentrate their firepower. The Assault Gunboats would engage X-Wings Yellow and Orange. Upon the Silent Stalker's arrival it would deploy its fighters. The TIE Interceptors (called S1) would head directly towards the A-Wings, only destroying any mines in their path, while the TIE Fighters would stay behind clear the remaining mines. After that, six TIE Fighters (called S2-1) would move to attack X-Wings Red, another six (called S2-2) would move to support the Assault Gunboats, while the remaining squadron (called S3) would move to attack the B-Wings Silver and Y-Wings Grey. S3's purpose is to disrupt the attack runs of Silver and Grey, while destroying targets of opportunity. With the minefield cleared the Silent Stalker would make its way towards the VSDII Iron Hand. From there it would move to support the Assault Gunboats.

Meanwhile, TIE Bombers Kappa will come to assist TIE Fighters Delta. The reason -- with Delta's attackers destroyed quickly and efficiently, Delta can assume an escort role to protect Kappa. After Delta's attackers have been destroyed, Delta and Kappa would move to assist Gamma. Carrack Cruisers Cyclops and Goliath would put themselves between B-Wings Silver and Y-Wings Grey, and the VSDII Iron Hand. Interdictor Agitator would move to support TIE Fighters Delta and then later TIE Interceptors Gamma, while the Dreadnaught Iron Maiden would move to add to the Iron Hand's protective sphere. In any case the capital ships protecting the VSDII would fire everything they have against the Silver and Grey to disrupt their formation and thin some of their numbers. Any spare guns would be used to assist the Imperial fighters. Cyclops, Goliath and Iron Maiden would take a few of the torpedo strikes against the Iron Hand.

Once TIE Interceptors Gamma's attackers have been destroyed, it would move to attack the A-Wings. The remaining TIE Fighters from S2-1 would move to support the Assault Gunboats. Half of TIE Fighters Delta would also move to support the Assault Gunboats, with the remainder going to support TIE Fighters S3. As soon as X-Wings Yellow and Orange have been destroyed the TIEs (S2-1, S2-2 and half of Delta) would attack any remaining A-Wings. The Assault Gunboats would move to attack Silver and Grey Squadrons. Meanwhile, TIE Bombers Kappa would stay out of any further fighter engagements. Eventually, after considerable Imperial starfighter losses all of the Rebel fighters in the area would be destroyed.

All of the ATRs would be deployed. Cyclops, Goliath, Iron Maiden, Silent Stalker and Agitator would move to attack the Rebel base; starting from a staging point in grid C3. The Imperial fighters would quickly clear the minefield protecting the Rebel base, while under the protection of the capital ships' weapons fire. Once a sufficient number of mines have been cleared, the ATRs and TIE Bombers Kappa under the protection of the capital ships would quickly unload their torpedo payload at the Rebel base. As soon as the Rebel base's shields drop, the Silent Stalker would disable the station, while other Imperial warships would target and destroy some of the station's weapon emplacements. The ATRs escorted by fighters would assist the Silent Stalker in disabling the station. Once the station is disabled, the ATRs would unload their Stormtroopers so that they could quickly seize control of the Rebel base.
