Repulse-Battle of the Line
| Assault Gunboats from a
local system patrol squadron discovered a Rebel Battle Line operating in
the Andorus Cluster. Reinforcements from all over the region are being
called in to deal with this threat to the Mid Rim. Your vessel the Imperial-II
Star Destroyer Obliterator will take command of the Imperial vessels
that enter the engagement zone. Forces under your command include: the
VSD
Rightful Ruler, Carrack Cruisers Leopard and Panther,
Escort Carrier
Tiger, and the Dreadnaughts Crusader, Repulse,
Justice
and
Honour, and the system patrol squadron's Assault Gunboats. Your
force complement includes 11 TIE Fighter, 4 TIE Interceptor and 3 TIE Bomber
Squadrons, 7 Assault Gunboats, 20 Stormtrooper Transports (with their troops),
8 Lambda Shuttles, 5 GAT-12j Skipray Blastboats and 2 Gamma-class Assault
Shuttles [with their Spacetroopers]. The Rebel Battle Line consists of
2 MC80 Mon Calamari Cruisers, 2 MC40a Light Mon Calamari Cruisers, 3 Nebulon-B
Frigates, 3 CR90 Corellian Corvettes, 1 Modified Corellian Action VI Transport
[armed with 4 turreted turbolasers and 1 fighter squadron], 6 ATRs and
8 Gallofree Yards Medium Transports. The Rebel complement includes 6 X-Wing,
4 Y-Wing, 3 A-Wing and 2 B-Wing Squadrons.
Since the vessels in this engagement are so spread out; craft with a sublight speed of: 2 Space Units can cross into the next grid square in 30 seconds. 4 Space Units can cross into the next grid square in 15 seconds. 6 Space Units can cross into the next grid square in 10 seconds. 8 Space Units can cross into the next grid square in 7.5 seconds. 10 Space Units can cross into the next grid square in 6 seconds. 12 Space Units can cross into the next grid square in 5 seconds. |
| Note that there are no reinforcements available as they are all on their way, although, they will not arrive in time. The TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors and Stormtrooper Transports carry no warheads. The TIE Bombers are armed with 6 Proton Torpedoes each, while the Assault Gunboats and Gamma-class Assault Shuttles are fully loaded with Concussion Missiles. The Skipray Blastboats are also fully armed. The Carrack Cruisers have been equipped with laser cannons. Most of the Imperial support craft are carried onboard the ISDII, the VSD carries the remaining 5 Stormtrooper Transports. Meanwhile, the Rebel fighters are armed with their full complement of missiles and torpedoes. The Rebel ATRs are fully armed with Proton Torpedoes. |

Galactic Empire Data Bank's Answer
| First order the Escort Carrier Tiger to pull back towards grid E4, while it scrambles all of its fighters and fires off its weapons against its slowest attackers. The Tiger's fighters will provide a defensive screen against the fighter attack. The Carrack Cruisers will move to intercept the Escort Carrier Tiger to help ward off its attackers using their laser cannons. TIE Fighter squadrons Alpha, Beta and Gamma and TIE Interceptor squadrons Delta and Eta will move to intercept the Escort Carrier Tiger, in order to strengthen its defensive screen. Three TIE Interceptors squadrons, split evenly in two groups would attack A-Wing squadrons Hydra and Recoil. The remaining TIE Interceptor squadron would attack B-Wing squadron Mongoose. The TIE Fighter squadrons would engage the remaining Rebel fighters. However, the Tiger's TIE Bombers would meet up with TIE Bomber squadron Mu, so that they could begin their attack on the Rebel ATRs. Assault Gunboats Tau 1 and 2 would be ordered to assist the TIE Fighters in grid D5 and D6. TIE Fighter squadron Epsilon and half of Theta would concentrate their attacks against A-Wing squadron Eagle. The Dreadnaughts would provide whatever fire support they can and to help break up the Rebel formations. Meanwhile, the ISDII Obliterator would launch its five Assault Gunboats and five Skipray Blastboats; designated Group Omega. This attack force would move to assist the Dreadnaughts which are under attack. They would concentrate their efforts on destroying the B-Wings and then the Y-Wings. TIE Bomber squadron Nu would concentrate its attacks on the Y-Wing squadron Sierra until the arrival Group Omega. Shortly after Group Omega has arrived, Nu squadron would move to attack any remaining Rebel ATRs. The ISDII Obliterator would move to engage the Rebel capital ships in grid B2. Its goal is not only to destroy the Rebel capital ships in that grid, but to also prevent them from escaping. The VSD Rightful Ruler, along with the Dreadnaughts Crusader and Honour would move to support the ISDII. However, before the VSD Rightful Ruler moves to support the ISDII, it would engage the Nebulon-B Frigate Saviour and its escort the Modified Corellian Action Transport (once it moves into range [same grid]). The VSD would hold them in place with its tractor beams, while pounding them into oblivion with all of its weapons (the Dreadnaughts Crusader and Honour would ignore the engagement and continue on to grid B2). The Dreadnaughts Crusader and Honour would engage the MC40a Revolution in an attempt to draw fire away from the ISDII by acting as a "shield" for the ISDII. As the Rebel fighters from grids C4 and C5 have engaged the Imperial fighters, the Dreadnaughts Repulse and Justice would move to grid E4, so that they could receive some protection offered by the Carrack Cruisers. Once the Rebel ATRs have been destroyed, the TIE Bombers would move to support the Imperial capital ships in grid B2, using long range torpedo attacks. Should Rebel fighters be dispatched against them, the TIE Bombers would disengage and fly a path that would keep distance between them and their attackers, while making their way to grid E4. Once the TIE Bombers have run out of torpedoes, they would remove themselves from the combat zone. By the time Imperial capital ships have reached to engage the vessels in grid B2, most of the Rebel Battle Line has escaped into hyperspace, partially or totally unscathed; these include all the Gallofree Medium Transports and Corellian Corvettes, the Nebulon-B Frigates Typhoon and Mantooine, MC80 Mon Alcar and the MC40a Yavin's Justice. The ISDII Obliterator would concentrate is fire on the MC80 Mon Calus, while using its remaining fire to ward off the smaller Rebel capital ships. Once B-Wing squadron Mongoose has been destroyed, the TIE Interceptors would move to attack A-Wing squadron Eagle. As soon as A-Wing squadrons Hydra and Recoil have been destroyed, the remaining TIE Interceptors would move against the X-Wings. When A-Wing squadron Eagle is destroyed, the remaining TIE Fighters and TIE Interceptors would move to support Group Omega (at this point B-Wing squadron Falcon has been destroyed) to quickly finish off Y-Wing squadrons Sierra and Tango. Once the VSD Rightful Ruler has finished off the Nebulon-B and the Action Transport, it would move to tractor beam the MC40a Revolution to ensure it cannot escape. With that it would unload its full fury against the Rebel vessel. The Imperial fighters would keep the Rebel fighters occupied to prevent them from attacking their original capital ship targets as well as preventing them from coming to the rescue of their capital ships. As soon as the MC40a Revolution has been destroyed, the Dreadnaughts Crusader and Justice and the VSD Rightful Ruler would move to concentrate all fire against the MC80 Mon Calus. It would not be long until the MC80 would be destroyed. From there, the Imperial fighters finish off the remaining Rebel fighters. |
