The Dreadnaught Dargon was tasked in moving recently captured Rebels and Bothans. Its assigned escort the VSD Callisto had yet to arrive and was expected to be late. Exploiting this window of opportunity, Rebel starfighters supported by Rogue Squadron launched their attack. While A-Wings from Red Squadron and X-Wings from Rogue Squadron kept the escorting TIE Avengers busy, Gold Squadron's Y-Wings moved in to launch their proton torpedoes to soften up the dreadnaught.

Within a half minute of the Rebels' arrival, Imperial reinforcements in the form of five Assault Gunboats dropped out of hyperspace near the Dreadnaught Dargon. Their targets were the Y-Wings. Unfortunately, Rogue Squadron was able to eliminate the counter-attacking Assault Gunboats. As soon as the dreadnaught had been disabled, the Y-Wings began to withdraw from the battle. On queue, the MC80a Columbia dropped out of hyperspace to deploy its three ATRs to capture the Dargon. Alas, Imperial efforts to destroy the ATRs were thwarted. Once the Dargon was captured, the ATRs returned to the MC80a Columbia. Soon after the Dargon hypered out, the MC80a and the remaining Rebel starfighters made their escape.

NOTE: This mission shares three elements found in TIE Fighter Battle 12 Mission 1: Dreadnaught Dargon as a prison ship, jump point location Darg 3, and the MC80a Columbia's participation. The most likely explanation is after delivering the first batch of prisoners to Lord Vader (TIE Fighter Battle 12 Mission 1 and 2), the Rebels in this battle managed to rescue a second batch of prisoners.
