Three X-Wings were hijacked by their R2 Units. The R2 Units were part of the shipment recently stolen from the Empire. The droids themselves had hidden programming that allowed them to take control of the X-Wings so they could be delivered to the awaiting ISD Invincible. The Rebels were able to discover this and were able to track the captured X-Wings down. It was vital for the Rebels to recapture the X-Wings, since the pilots inside were some of the Rebellion's top pilots, all with information. Red Squadron was deployed to intercept and disable the X-Wings to allow them for capture. When Red Squadron came out of hyperspace, they were less than 1.5 km away from the X-Wings, which were headed towards the ISD, which was about 45 km away. The X-Wings were not travelling at full speed. Farlander targeted Blue 2 and used his laser cannons to take down the shields and then use his ion cannons to disable the X-Wing.

    The ISD Invincible began to launch pairs of TIE Interceptors early in the battle.. With that, Farlander with his cannons and shields fully charged headed directly towards the nearest TIE Interceptors, while the other Y-Wings were still trying to disable their X-Wing targets and when they did, they hypered out of the area. The Rebel shuttles arrived one after another as their assigned X-Wings were disabled. The MC80a Maximus arrived in the area, soon after the 3rd X-Wing was captured by the Rebel shuttles. With TIE Interceptor Alpha 1 in his sights, Farlander let off a torpedo in the head on attack. With that TIE destroyed, he was able to destroy Alpha 2 with his laser cannons before he got by him. Farlander spent the rest of his time fighting the TIE Interceptors and ensured none got past him. Some time after, all of the X-Wings and shuttles made it into the hanger of the MC80a Maximus and with that the Rebel vessel hypered out of the area.
