This retaliatory attack was done because of the Imperial Blockade of Chandrila. The Imperial traitor Kasan Moor engineered this assault on an Imperial Volcano Base at Sullust. General Carlist Rieekan briefed Kasan Moor on the situation. The location of this Imperial Volcano Base was provided to the Rebels by Bothan spies. This Imperial Base was a crucial link to the rest of the Sullust System for the Galactic Empire. This base well hidden in a volcano and was also well protected. The volcano was being used to power a geothermal generator which is regulated by a shielded central capacitor. 12 Transmitters were feeding the energy to the capacitor, destroying all of the transmitters would cause the shield protecting the capacitor to drop. Skywalker had Kasan Moor lead this attack against the Empire. Both of them flew in Y-Wings. The X-Wings engaged the defending TIE Interceptors while the Y-Wings targeted and destroyed the transmitters and defences. When the shield protecting the capacitor dropped, Skywalker ordered all of the starfighters from Rogue Squadron to concentrate their fire on the now exposed and vulnerable capacitor. After the capacitor was destroyed Rogue Squadron had to leave the volcano before it would destabilize and destroy them with it. However this battle was a diversion used by Moff Seerdon so he could secretly capture Thyferra, General Rieekan informed Rogue Squadron of the news of their failure in realizing that they had been used by Moff Seerdon to accomplish his ultimate goal, the capturing of Thyferra.
