This mission was one of
the first operational test missions for the new A-Wing. The Rebel attack
was also meant to disrupt Imperial operations. The Empire believed that
the Rebellion would not waste its time on such an out of way Imperial Repair
Dock, that it was left unprotected. Unfortunately the Empire was wrong.
Red Leader hypered into the area and destroyed all 22 of the craft staged
in the area waiting for repairs, as well as the Imperial Repair Dock itself.
All the craft but the Space Tug T-34 and two TIE Fighters in the
area were stationary. With the attack on the Imperial Repair Dock signalled
for the arrival of the Imperial Nebulon-B Frigate Virulence, which
was too late to save the Imperial Repair Dock or any of the craft staged
there. The Nebulon-B deployed 2 TIE Interceptors and 3 TIE Bombers equipped
with concussion missiles. Unfortunately, Red Leader was able to narrowly
escape the blazing guns of the Imperial frigate.
