The Rebels and the Airam
were putting the final touches on the Modified Strike Cruiser, but they
needed more time and they also needed to keep the existence of the Rebels
own version of the Imperial Interdictor a secret from the Empire. Rogue
and Green Squadrons were deployed to protect the area. The Lambda Shuttle
Electro was launched from the Factory Gallofree to dock with the Modified
Strike Cruiser Peregrine to get the vessel operational. As expected a larger
Imperial Force arrived near the factory. Escort Transports were the first
to arrive and to start the attack. They targeted the Interdictor Cruiser
and let off their load of proton torpedoes to take down the shields of
the vessel and then they switched to ion cannons to attempt to disable
the vessel. Both Rogue and Green Squadron went after the Escort Transports.
A few moments after, the Escort Carrier Tyrant arrived and it let loose
its TIEs. Once the remaining Escort Transports were destroyed, the ATRs
arrived to finish the work of the Escort Transports and to capture the
Interdictor. The Modified Strike Cruiser Peregrine attempted to get its
gravity wells operational, but still the gravity wells still would not
work. However, the ATRs too were also destroyed before they could accomplish
what they set out to do. While this was happening, the TIE Bombers were
targeting the Modified Strike Cruiser to destroy it and the TIE Interceptors
used their concussion missiles against the Rebel starfighters that they
were combating against. While all of this was going on, the shuttle Electro
was able to get the Modified Strike Cruiser operational, which after completing
that task it returned to the factory. The TIE Bombers were not successful
in their bombing runs to destroy the Rebel vessel. Meanwhile, Green Squadron
concentrate their fire power on the Escort Carrier Tyrant. The battle ensued
for some time until the Rebels destroyed the Escort Carrier and the remaining
Imperial starfighters. The Modified Strike Cruiser Peregrine safely made
it out of the area into hyperspace and was en route to rendezvous with
the MC80a Liberty for its field test. With the Rebels' version of the Interdictor
safely away, phase one of Rebel High Command's plan was now complete and
the next Imperial Force that came to the factory was in for an unfortunate
surprise.
