A Rebel X-Wing, carrying a detailed readout of the technical specifications of the Death Star broke down near the Cron Drift. The data was intercepted by the Rebel listening post that was set up in the Cron Drift to eavesdrop on Imperial communications. The data was considered so valuable to the Rebels that it could not be transmitted but had to be delivered by courier. However, with the X-Wing broken down, it was stranded in space. Red Squadron was sent to watch over the X-Wing until help arrived. Just over minute passed before 6 Assault Gunboats dropped out of hyperspace about 3 km away. The Rebels turned to engage the nearest Assault Gunboats. Farlander managed to destroy one when the Lambda Shuttle ATK 253 came out of hyperspace less than 1 km away. The Lambda Shuttle was headed towards the disabled X-Wing, so Farlander ordered his wingmen to attack the shuttle.
Farlander noticed that his wingman Red Three was taking a beating from the Assault Gunboat Nu 1. So Farlander came to his wingman's assistance, while Red Two finished off the shuttle. The Lambda Shuttle ATK 592 arrived and once again Farlander ordered his wingmen to attack it. The dogfight with the Assault Gunboats was getting furious, the Assault Gunboats were constantly letting off concussion missiles. A few of them hit Farlander and Red Three caught one, but Red Two was doing pretty well on his own.
As soon as Lambda Shuttle
ATK
592 was destroyed, Lambda Shuttle ATK 664 arrived to replace
it. Red Three finally was destroyed by another concussion missile, unfortunately
Farlander and Red Two were able to destroy the last Lambda Shuttle. Just
after the destruction of the Imperial shuttle, the Rebel Shuttle Rescue
1 arrived being escorted by three Rebel Corellian Corvettes. With that
Red Squadron re-engaged the Assault Gunboats. The destroyed Assault Gunboats
were constantly being replaced by replacement waves. Eventually, the X-Wing
was repaired and hypered out of the area. Soon after the Rebel corvettes
and the Rebel shuttle hypered out of the area. After they were gone Red
Squadron also hypered out of the area.
