This battle was the "trial
by fire" test for the Modified Strike Cruiser Peregrine. The Airam intercepted
a transmission which revealed that Imperial Forces in this sector were
expecting reinforcements starships from the adjoining sector. The Rebels
positioned themselves along the Imperial reinforcement fleet's trajectory
and pulled them back into realspace using the gravity wells on the Modified
Strike Cruiser Peregrine. The surprised Imperial ships turned the entire
fleet towards the Rebel ships to engage them, while they were doing that,
they deployed some of their TIEs. Rogue Squadron went after the Imperial
starfighters while Green Squadron went after the Imperial capital ships.
The Rebels didn't want the Imperial capital ships to come into range to
engage their capital ships to cause heavy damage forcing a retreat or the
destruction of the Modified Strike Cruiser Peregrine or the MC80a Liberty.
Early in the battle, TIE Advanced from Avenger Squadron arrived to help
protect the Imperial reinforcements, but they were unsuccessful. Both the
MC80a Liberty and the Modified Strike Cruiser Peregrine fell under attack
by Imperial Forces, but Imperial Forces were unable to destroy the Rebel
ships. The Rebels were able to destroy the Imperial reinforcement fleet
without sustaining substantial damage to themselves unfortunately. With
the loss of the Imperial reinforcement fleet, Imperial warships operating
in this sector would be cut off from additional support for quite some
time. This also forced Admiral Senn to use Imperial strength in this sector
wisely. With the great loss to the Imperial Fleet in the Airam Sector,
the Rebels would act quickly to exploit the advantage that was presented
to them.
