The Rebels learned of the
rendezvous between Bulk Freighter Mharsup and Modified Corvette Group Hashim,
where the freighter would transfer the TIE Defender prototypes. The Modified
Corvettes were to deliver the TIE Defenders to Admiral Thrawn. The Emperor
directed Admiral Thrawn to ensure these starfighters are taken to a secret
location where they would be safe. The rendezvous point was a site of a
recent Rebel attack. TIE Defender Delta 1 was flying escort for freighter
Mharsup and shuttle G'nabgib, which were waiting for the corvettes to arrive
with their Assault Gunboat escorts. Without warning, 6 Rebel A-Wings hypered
into the area in different locations and distances from each other. TIE
Defender Delta 1 was ordered to intercept the A-Wings. After destroying
several of the A-Wings, 4 B-Wings hypered into the area quite some distance
away. Stele was on his way to intercept the B-Wings, before they could
attack and disable the freighter. While this was happening, the Rebel Stormtrooper
Transport group Storm escorted by 3 X-Wings arrived to capture the freighter
and its contents. Stele was able to destroy the B-Wings and A-Wings. The
Rebels never got the chance to disable the freighter since Maarek Stele
was able to keep the transports and their escorts occupied, while at the
same time destroying them. Around the time when TIE Defender Delta 1 was
finishing off the last of the Rebel raiders, Modified Corvette group Hashim
arrived with their Assault Gunboat escorts. Soon after, 6 Rebel Y-Wings
came out of hyperspace to destroy the convoy, Y-Wing Gold 1 fired Proton
Torpedoes at a corvette but did not destroy it. The Assault Gunboats and
the TIE Defender engaged and destroyed the Y-Wings with ease. During the
fighting, TIE Defender prototypes 11 and 12 were launched and freighter
Mharsup hypered out of the area. Nearing the doomed fate of the Y-Wings,
the Rebel Nebulon-B Frigate Hunu hypered into the area to engage Imperial
Forces. TIE Defender prototype 11 entered modified corvette Hashim 1 and
TIE Defender prototype entered modified corvette Hashim 2. The Frigate
let lose 8 Z-95 Headhunters in an attempt to destroy the escorting Imperial
Forces, however, the Z-95s were destroyed along with the Rebel Frigate.
Shuttle G'nabgib stayed with the modified corvettes and with the Rebels
defeated, Maarek Stele piloted TIE Defender Delta 1 into the hanger of
modified corvette Hashim 3.
