The Interdictor Restrainer
was able to get the jump on the MC80a Liberty when that Rebel ship
was returning from a mission in (nominally) Imperial held space. The Interdictor
trapped the MC80a with its gravity well projectors and it called in reinforcements
so the Rebel ship could be destroyed before it could escape. The Interdictor
launched a TIE Interceptor and a TIE Bomber squadron to attack the Rebel
ship and to engage the starfighters that the MC80a had launched for its
own defence. The MC80a Liberty was Rogue Squadron's command ship.
The X-Wings went after the Interdictor to destroy it while the A-Wings
provided cover and intercepted the TIE Bombers that were targeting the
MC80a Liberty. Unfortunately not one of the TIE Bombers from the
Interdictor Restrainer were able to let off any of their proton
torpedo payloads on the MC80a. A short time after the battle started, the
ISD Bellicose arrived on the scene, coming out of hyperspace behind
the MC80a. The Imperial warship unleashed its fighters against the Rebels.
Unfortunately a short time after the ISD had arrived, the Rebels were successful
in destroying the Interdictor Restrainer, thus ending the interdiction
field. A short time after the Interdictor was destroyed, the VSD Jundland
arrived, coming out of hyperspace in front of the MC80a Liberty
and like the ISD Bellicose, it too unleashed its starfighters, including
TIE Bombers against the Rebels. With the Interdictor Cruiser destroyed,
the MC80a started to head for its hyperspace point, which was near the
VSD. The TIE Bombers from the ISD and the VSD had far more success and
were torpedoing the MC80a. The Rebels were unfortunately able to destroy
all of the Imperial starfighters that were deployed against them. Before
the MC80a Liberty escaped into hyperspace, it traded some fire with
the VSD Jundland. Unfortunately, Imperial Forces were not able to
cause complete starfighter losses to the Rebels and were only able to collapse
the shields and cause moderate hull damage to the MC80a Liberty,
before the Rebels escaped the Empire's grasp.
