This mission was the first
time that the B-Wing was used as its primary role as a Nebulon-B Frigate
killer. The Rebel force hypered into the area to engage the Nebulon-B Frigate
Shrike. The Imperial frigate deployed its starfighters against the
Rebels. Red Squadron led the attack against the Imperial frigate, while
Gold Squadron provided escort. The Rebels believed that the Imperial frigate
would try to leave the area by racing towards a Nav Buoy protected by a
small minefield. A short time after the battle started, a detachment from
the local System Patrol Squadron arrived. The detachment consisted of 2
CR90 Corellian Corvettes and 6 Assault Gunboats. Unfortunately even with
the added fire power, it was not enough to defeat the Rebels. With this
astounding loss, Imperial Military Intelligence refused to believe the
initial reports. Unfortunately in the end, the Rebels were able to destroy
the Nebulon-B Frigate Shrike and the detachment from the local System
Patrol Squadron.
