The MC80a Liberty conducted
a hit and run on the Imperial Fleet in order to draw off of the Imperial
Fleet's escorts. With the Empire in hot pursuit the Rebels set an ambush
up at the MC80a Liberty's exit point. Both Rogue and Green Squadrons were
already deployed in the system waiting for the MC80a Liberty's arrival.
The Rebels did not have to wait long, soon after the MC80a Liberty came
out of hyperspace, so did the Imperial pursuers. The Star Destroyers were
some distance behind the MC80a Liberty but they flanked both sides of the
Rebel ship, with the Interdictor Cruiser Compellor in the centre of the
Imperial Formation but it quite far behind both Star Destroyers. The ISDs
deployed their TIEs while the Interdictor Compellor withheld its complement
from the battle, but prevented all ships in the area from escaping into
hyperspace. All the Rebel X-Wings and B-Wings targeted the closest ISD,
which was the ISD Conqueror, while the A-Wings took the role as fighter
interceptors. After the first barrage, the X-Wings then turned their attention
on the Imperial starfighters. The TIE Bombers concentrated their attacks
on the MC80a Liberty. The MC40a Condor arrived early in the battle. During
the battle Assault Gunboats also hypered into the area to attack the MC80a.
But both the TIE Bombers and the Assault Gunboats were unable to cause
significant damage to the MC80a. The ISD Conqueror shield's eventually
collapsed under a barrage of proton torpedoes and laser cannons. Once the
shields dropped, the vessel was disabled with ion cannons and was destroyed
by even more proton torpedoes and laser cannon fighter. Late in the battle
TIE Advanced from Avenger Squadron hypered into assist in the elimination
of Rebel starfighters. With the ISD Conqueror destroyed all the Rebel Forces
in battle concentrated their fire on the ISD Nemesis. The MC80a Liberty
and the MC40a Condor concentrated their fire upon the Star Destroyer, as
well as the B-Wings while the X-Wings mostly concentrated on the Imperial
starfighters as well as the A-Wings. The Rebels were also able to cause
the shields of the ISD Nemesis to collapse as well and once it did, the
Rebels disabled the Star Destroyer and finished it off. Soon after all
of the Imperial starfighters in the area were destroyed. After witnessing
this diabolical, Captain Rigell ordered the Interdictor Cruiser Compellor
to withdraw from the area. The Interdictor took a few hits, but it escaped
before the Rebels could effectively engage the cruiser. The Rebels wanted
to track down the Interdictor Cruiser Compellor since it had solid evidence
of the strength of Rebel forces in this sector.
