A day after the transferring the wounded Rebels to the Rebel Medical Frigate Redemption, the Rebels had launched an ambush against an Imperial supply convoy. The Imperial supply convoy was heading towards their rendezvous with the ISD Invincible. The Rebels ambushed the convoy to disrupt Operation Strike Fear for several weeks, since they learned that Imperial Forces led by ISD Invincible were depleted of supplies after their attacks on the Rebel Base on Briggia. And they also learned that the next target would be Rudrig. The Empire realized that the Rebel presence in this sector was much stronger than realized and so reinforcements were called before the attack on Rudrig would commence.
When the Rebels commenced their attack, the ISD Invincible was 50 km away and thus it could not harm the Rebel attackers when they came out of hyperspace. However, TIE Interceptors were launched by the ISD near the beginning of the battle to help reinforce the TIE Fighters and the Corellian Corvette escorting the freighters. When Farlander arrived, he ordered his wingman to attack one of the escorting TIE Fighters, while he targeted the escorting Imperial corvette which was right in front of him. Once he was in range he let off all of his proton torpedoes at the corvette, destroying it.
As soon has his last torpedoes
had left his launchers, Farlander targeted the nearest TIE Fighter. The
X-Wings were supposed to draw off the TIE escorts, to let the Y-Wings when
they arrived to destroy the convoy unchallenged by TIEs. The Y-Wings hypered
into the area a minute after Farlander arrived. However unfortunately the
X-Wings were performing their duty as planned. After Farlander and his
wingman had finished off the escorting TIE Fighters they assisted the Y-Wings
in destroying the defenceless freighters. The Rebels hypered out of the
area, before any of the TIE Interceptors could engage them.
