The Empire decided to attack a critical Rebel supply depot to ferret out a Rebel MC40a Light Cruiser to its destruction. To accomplish this major operation, the Imperial Nebulon-B Frigate Implacable was sent to do the job. TIE Interceptors were to clear the Rebel fighter defences while TIE Bombers were to attack the Rebel platform. The Rebel platform was defended by a number of Z-75 Headhunters and the IPV-1 Derdmin. Soon after Imperial Forces arrived, the YT-1300 Transport Needoc decided to leave the platform and vacate the area. The YT-1300 however, was shot down before it could escape into hyperspace. Then the TIE Interceptors turned their attentions on the Z-95 Headhunters and the IPV-1.
The MC40a Ardent
arrived after the shields of the Rebel platform had collapsed and thus
it was too far late to save it. The Rebel fighters carrying proton torpedoes
made the Imperial frigate their target, however the TIE Interceptors prevented
the Rebel fighters from destroying their intended target. The Rebel vessel
had been snared in taking the bait in this Imperial ambush. With the platform
destroyed, the TIE Bombers turned their attention on the newly arrived
Rebel vessel, while the TIE Interceptors provided fighter cover. A short
time after the Rebel vessel took the bait a pair of A-Wings had hypered
in. But those A-Wings along with the MC40a and all of the remaining Rebel
fighters in the area shared the same fate. And that sealed fate was their
destruction.
